If there are a few things I love in this world, it is sweet girly clothing and vintage/antique items.
My grandparents were avid antique lovers. They owned their own antique shop in Weston, Missouri for many years.
As far back as I can remember, my grandfather would go to auctions and I would just watch all the people take pretty items home. I remember him telling me that bidding on the bundles of “junk” were always the best because you never know what could be in them.
Now that I am an adult, and both my grandparents have passed on, the love of going to auctions stays with me.
I can now share with you one of my awesome auction finds, an antique cradle. Which little Ms. L. looked so cute in!

Met little A. Hands down, by far, the best 15 month old I have ever had to deal with. Ever!
I can’t tell you how impressed I was by all this little one knew, and how amazing she was with listening.
I think she needs to come over and teach my 5 year old a thing or two.
Not to mention, those curls, that skin, those eyes! What a knock out. It was hard not to turn all these images black and white, she makes them look so amazing.
Thank you A and her mommy for coming out and spending some time in Historic downtown Belton, Missouri.

These could both very easily be two of my favorites from 2010!!!
The boys are just so sweet, even the oldest was busting out in a little “pants on the ground” (American Idol, for those that don’t follow) song and dance!!

I get the privilege of attending and photographing this awesome couples wedding in September, I can’t wait!
Sorry for the lack of updates lately. We have been having some major internet/uploading issues. The cable company is coming out tomorrow to try and fix it!
Until then…..

It’s funny, but sometimes the little guys do not want to smile, or eat their 1st birthday cake.
And that is just fine! We still ended up with some cute images from this urban cake smash in downtown kansas city.

and a smile!!

There is something about old friends. Friends who have seen you at your worst and at your best. Something about someone that calls you “numb nuts” every time you text or call them…..
My friend Jorge, is a talented actor (not to mention, a great flair bartender!!) and lives right here in KC.
We have been through some crazy (and I mean CRAZY) times together. If I ever need a good time and someone to cheer me up out of a bad mood, I know he is the guy to call.

We met up outside Rhythm & Booze and took some quick portraits to update his comp card and portfolio.

One more time for my homies that didn’t get the memo.
Clickin’ Moms is AWESOME SAUCE.

www.ClickinMoms.com

Tomorrow (March 31st, 2010) is the last day to get 10% off using the code FRIEND.
This is not just for mommy’s, there are single women, married women with out children, and even some men on the forum!
It is truly a great place and I am happy I was invited to join 2 years ago.

If you didn’t see my before and after, check out this blog post about before I had the support of thousands of women (and men!!) just like me. A mom with a DSLR and kids that didn’t want their picture taken ;)

This forum is more than worth what you pay a month. I can not tell you how many talented designers are on this photography forum that give away actions, templates, holiday cards, and collages for free!
Very value tool for any aspiring, or established photographer.

On that note, here is a picture of my (almost) 5 year old.
She looks 25 here. What is happening to my baby?

I had the pleasure of meeting miss Elle on the first day of her life. 8 days later she came over to play with me and what a time we had!
Isn’t she so incredibly sweet? She also has a sweet older sister, that is one of the most behaved 21 month old I have ever met.
This newborn was just so easy to please, I am glad I had a chance to photograph her.

Once upon a time, I got my first DSLR (a Nikon D50 thankyouverymuch). It was a few weeks after my son, Tommy was born. My children soon became subject of my photography torture. I knew I needed to practice and learn, if I ever wanted to get great pictures of my kids.
That love for taking pictures turned into a desire to start a business, and here we are today!
There is no way I could have ever come half this far without the love, help, and support of great online communities full of photographers.

With the price of entry level DSLR’s dropping these days, I am sure most of you moms (and dads!) own something like a Canon Rebel, a Canon TSi, etc.
You CAN rock that camera! It is all about knowing how to use it properly.
Why not join Clickin’ Moms ? There is even a 10% off code, just use FRIEND

And just to show you a short comparison of where I was before I found Clickin’ Moms, here is a picture of my daughter Adelai. This was taken in the Spring of 2007, four or five months after getting my camera.
Hello, discovering Lightroom!!! Pretty process fabulous, huh?

And today. My little sweet pea 3 years later.

7 day sweetness

February 7, 2010

A few days ago I traveled out to Fort Riley, Kansas to photograph this sweet little 7 day newborn, baby A.
Hands down, no contest, she was the best baby ever. So cuddly and sweet, and with a big brother that loved to help!
Here are a few of my favorites from that day.
